Apparently distant worlds but united by the creativity and construction skills typical of an artisan workshop and an unfailing passion for creating unique, always original works. BAR BASSO The place to be for aperitivo. Supposedly, they have one of the best (and strongest) Aperol Spritz, a classic orange cocktail in the color of the sunset. BAR LUCE In the corner of the famous Fondazione Prada, the Bar Luce is a must-go for design lovers. It’s like a dollhouse, but for designers. As explained by Anderson, “the approach I used to design this bar is exactly the opposite I usually use for the set designs of my movies. I tried to make it a bar you’d like to go to five times a week. BICI & RADICI MILANO A tiny bicycle + dried flowers shop. Probably the most enchanting place at NoLo (North Loreto). This place is exclusively used for locals, but if you want to sit outside and enjoy people-watching no one will eye you for it. Our favorite place in Milan for coffee. SANT AMBROEUS In1936, inspired by the story of the fourth century’s Saint Ambrogio, the patron saint of Milan, two pastry chefs opened the classic pasticceria and confetteria. Pop in and enjoy a perfectly-crafted cappuccino and cornetto or take a pastry to go, wrapped in the iconic pink packaging. The cafe has now expanded to Palm Beach, New York City, and The Hampton’s. CARLO E CAMILLA IN SEGHERIA Literally translated to "Charles and Camilla in a sawmill" this restaurant is one of a kind and not to be missed. RITA Fresh, all natural-ingredients are what Rita is known for, and it’s a safe bet you probably haven’t had anything like the cocktails served at this Navigli bar. Take the Willy Wonka, for instance, which uses house-made fruit jam (made with whatever’s in season), ginger, honey, lime juice, and a drop of bergamot oil. FONDAZIONE ACHILLE CASTIGLIONI Achille Castiglioni was an architect and object, furniture, lamp, and chair designer. GALLERIA MASSIMO DE CARLO AT THE CASA CORBELLINI-WASSERMANN Among the pioneers of contemporary art in Milan, founded in 1987 by Massimo de Carlo, its new space was designed by legendary Casa Corbellini-Wassermann, with architect Piero Portaluppi during the Fascist years. Unveiled with an exhibition dedicated to the 1930s, the venue hosts works by Thomas Grünfeld, Jannis Kounellis, Sirio Tofanari, Felix Gonzalez-Torres. BAXTER CINEMA Located in the heart of Largo Augusto, the historic heart of Milan, Baxter Cinema offers a second life to what was once the Cinema President, Milan's favorite cinema. MUSEO POLDI PEZZOLI Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli fell in love with the idea of the house-as-museum on his grand tour of Europe in the early 1800s. What is now the Victoria & Albert museum in London—with rooms representing different time periods—left an especially strong impression. The museum is in a neoclassical palazzo that feels like an endless cave of treasures: There are tapestries, armor, paintings, and sculptures. Via Alessandro Manzoni, 12; museopoldipezzoli.it
CASA DEGLI ATELLANI This large villa came to the Atellani family via a donation from the Duke of Milan in the late 1400s. Leonardo da Vinci actually stayed there while painting The Last Supper), and its magnificence is still (basically) intact. TEATRO ALLA SCALA This world-famous opera house was the passion project of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, who oversaw its construction in the 1770s (the opening night performance was Salieri’s Europa Riconosciuta). Intense bombing during WWII led to a series of major renovations, and today it’s just as resplendent as it was in the eighteenth century. Red velvet, silk brocade walls, and gilded stucco are illuminated by a huge glittering chandelier composed of nearly 400 lamps. Via Filodrammatici, 2; teatroallascala.org

LAGO DI COMO A 45-minute train from Milano sets you in the beautiful environs of Lago Di Como. Hire a Riva yacht and try to catch a glimpse of George Clooney. We recommend the Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, a stately 16th-century residence. Another option is the Grand Hotel Tremezzo- we especially suggest ordering a poolside negroni at sunset.
